Operations Manager | Permanent | Full Time | Monday to Friday – 9.00am – 5.00pm – 37.5 Hours a week | Cardiff| £40000 – £45,000 per annum based on experience.

Your new role:

The Operations Manager will ensure all aspects of the Fostering Service are compliant with the Regulated Fostering Services. You’ll be directly responsible for service delivery within a defined region, the Operations Manager will develop and deliver the agency fostering service, supervise social work and support staff to ensure the highest possible standards of care and personal outcomes for children and young people.

The Operations Manager will develop the business in the Region, liaising with Local Authority Placement Teams and establishing quality standards. You will ensure Calon Cymru Fostering’s standards, policy and procedures are applied consistently, including all case records maintained for carers and children.

You’ll provide a professional fostering service which places the needs and personal outcomes of children who are looked after at the top of its priorities. Additionally, you will oversee recruitment of staff and ensure that they adhere to current legislation.

What you will need:

– You must be social work qualified with some experience of working in a children and families setting
– Extensive social care experience
– You must have the ability to work flexibly and outside core working hours.
– Full Clean driver’s Licence and access to a car
– Management Experience
– A current Enhanced DBS is required for this position and registration with the HCPC.

Sessional Support Worker | Permanent | Cardiff

Calon Cymru Fostering are looking for Sessional Support Workers to support the young person’s progress in the TLP Programmes and foster placement through working with them in the community, in leisure activities or at school. Specifically, to provide one to one support to young people, and provide some necessary respite for the carers. In summary the post is for a competent worker to engage in direct, focused work with children – to build positive relationships with the child, to model acceptable behaviour and help the child to trust and feel safe with adults.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Individual Work

To work directly with individual young people and children placed with Calon Cymru foster carers under direction and through regular supervision from the Senior Practitioner and Business Development Manager.

  • To meet at least weekly one to one with the young people on the programme and to support young people through the initial adjustment period
  • To provide a positive role model to young people and promote and shape appropriate behaviour using prompting, practice and reinforcement
  • To work with the TLP team to target identified problem areas in behavioural and social functioning
  • To provide one to one support to young people on the programme within the community in a recreational context to promote and practice pro-social behaviour and problem solving skills
  • To communicate a positive regard for the young person in order to build and sustain a sound relationship with them
  • To identify the young person’s strengths and individual interests
  • To enable and support the young people to participate in recreational and leisure activities
  • To promote safety and assess risks associated with the young person’s behaviours and activities in the community under the direction of the Senior Practitioner/Business Development Manager
  • To encourage the young person’s engagement with their care plan and goals

Team Member Responsibilities

  • To support the work of other members of the TLP service
  • To undertake practical tasks relating to the support of the placements
  • To work flexible hours including non-office hours in order to meet the needs of supporting young people socially outside of school hours, including occasional call out to provide support to the team management of crises
  • To observe and provide information to the clinical team about the social functioning and skill development of the young people in community settings
  • To attend initial and therapeutic review meetings as required
  • To promote people’s equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities
  • To work with members of the TLP service to promote development of service and links to other agencies

Individual Responsibilities:

  • To ensure adherence to good practice, Calon Cymru Fostering Policies and Procedures and statutory regulations
  • To continue to develop own knowledge and practice
  • To participate in Calon Cymru Fostering training for staff package
  • To undertake work on a planned basis or as a crisis response
  • To work in a manner consistent with Calon Cymru Policies and Procedures, including code of conduct
  • To maintain departmental records, and use IT and electronic filing systems used by Calon Cymru as appropriate
  • To undertake such further training as may be required
  • To receive and be open to supervision as a means of developing good practice and maintaining high standards in all   areas of work
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post

We are often looking for independent assessors to work with our foster carers during the assessment process. You will need to be a qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Care Wales – experience of completing Form Fs to a high standard. Generous rates offered. Requirements for the role:

  • A qualified social worker
  • Three years post qualification experience
  • Registered for Social Care Wales
  • Experience in completing Form F assessments
  • Your own transport and to be willing to travel
  • To pass statutory and company checks
