Foster Families from Calon Cyrmu’s Carmarthen office have pulled together to support cancer charity Maggie’s Place.
The charity based near Singleton Hospital, Swansea, came to Calon Cymru Fostering’s attention when their Carmarthen social worker Vicky accessed their support while she is undergoing treatment for cancer.
Calon Cymru Fostering Operations Manager Lisa said, “The carers hold Vicky in high esteem and have leaped at the chance to do something that will support her.”
Calon Cymru Fostering staff, foster carers and young people will be doing a 5km walk in Pembrey Country Park. There will also be closed buckets for members of the public to make donations, and the foster children will be collecting sponsorships before the event.
Leanne Jennett, Centre Fundraising Organiser said, “We are delighted that Calon Cymru has chosen to support Maggie’s Swansea in their fundraising efforts and know that the money raised will go a long way in supporting people affected by cancer, their family and friends across South & West Wales. As a charity, Maggie’s Swansea relies solely on donations to continue developing our unique, high quality programme of support. We hope that the event goes well, and everyone enjoys the day.”
The walk will take place on 1st August and Calon Cymru Fostering hope to attract around 35 carers and raise as much as possible for the charity.
