Placement Support Worker – Carmarthen

By Krystal Shaw 11th May 2020 News & Insights

Hi, my name is Gaynor Jones-Lloyd and I am the Placement Support Worker at the Carmarthen office of Calon Cymru Fostering, I have been employed in this role for ten years. The eight weeks since lockdown began has hugely impacted the way I am able to carry out my role. However, I still feel very much part of a team thanks to the amazing support of colleagues and management and the wonder of the modern world of technology. We are keeping in touch with each other via virtual settings which has proved to be immensely helpful.

I have also been able to keep in touch with Carers via telephone calls, emails, text messages and zoom chats, and therefore very much hope that they all feel totally supported and know that they can keep in touch with me.

I am also involved in compiling the Children’s/Young People’s Newsletter which is emailed out weekly, this is hopefully helping to keep them entertained. It is has been really great to receive the many articles, photographs, drawings and stories from the children and hope to see many more forwarded to me in the weeks ahead.

I feel hugely proud to be part of the team at Calon Cymru Fostering and I very much look forward to the time when restrictions are lifted and normal working life and activities can be resumed.
