Calon Cymru Fostering Receives Positive Inspection with No Areas for Improvement

We’re pleased to share the outcome of our latest inspection for Calon Cymru Fostering.

Scott Ruddock, Responsible Individual and Director for Calon Cymru, said

We are delighted with the very positive feedback received from the Care Inspectorate. Their report reflects what we aim for every day. We have a highly skilled and experienced group of foster carers and staff, who together are helping our children achieve positive outcomes in loving and stable family homes.

The inspection report states

Children feel safe and have trusted adults they can talk to. One foster carer described the service  as “child‑focused to the core, with support that makes it possible for children to feel safe, settled and understood.

The commitment of our foster carers was clearly recognised, along with the nurturing environments they create and the care they provide day to day. The report also highlights the quality of supervision and the range of training available, particularly around trauma-informed practice.

Leadership and management were identified as strong, with clear oversight, good partnership working and a culture that supports both carers and staff to do their best for children.

Foster carers report positive relationships with supervising social workers and managers and describe responsive, reliable support that helps them care effectively for children. Staff and foster carers consistently describe a positive and supportive culture. One staff member told us, “Managers are visible, approachable and genuinely care about staff, carers and children – it feels like a team working towards the same goals.

Importantly, there were no areas for improvement and no priority actions identified.

This is a great result and a reflection of the hard work, care and dedication shown across the whole service.

Thank you to our foster carers, staff and partners for the difference you make every day.
