Improving futures is at the heart of everything we do.

Calon Cymru is a specialist fostering agency with over 25 years of experience. Our warm, friendly, skilled team conducts assessments and supports foster carers across South and West Wales.
A great life begins with a stable home, so we strive to make every child feel loved and cared for. You'd be perfect for foster care if you have space in your heart and room in your home.
At Calon Cymru Fostering, we believe that every child is important and that the needs, well-being and best interests of children and young people are paramount.
Founded in 1996, Calon Cymru, formerly Pathway Care Fostering, is one of the leading independent foster agencies in South and West Wales in terms of the number of children and young people we look after, the quality of care we provide, and the service we offer our foster carers. Our foster carers are based within many local authorities across South Wales and West Wales.
We have an excellent long-standing relationship with our local authority partners and a proven reputation for providing foster child and foster care-focused services. We have a growing presence in South and West Wales, with offices in both Cardiff and Carmarthen.
We are frequently told that our carers choose us and stay with us because they feel involved in the running of our agency, and we always ensure they have a voice. In addition, our local teams of social workers and support workers provide that we're always there for every one of our carers.
Our support means that our foster carers can focus on the important bit – providing great foster care to local children and young people looked-after.
Our well-established, long-standing, locally based teams are committed to providing stable and nurturing homes to children and young people. We provide specialist training and 24/7 support to our exceptional team of foster carers and their families to help encourage positive relationships for vulnerable children and young people in our care.
The well-being of children is clearly central to the ethos and practice of the agency. Children participate in decisions about their care and support, they are able to develop positive relationships with their foster carers and other people who are important to them and are supported to fulfil their potential and achieve positive outcomes. Children live with foster carers who have been safely recruited, and who are suitably supervised, supported and trained in order to provide safe and stable homes for the children they care for.

Scott qualified as a social worker nearly thirty years ago. He joined Calon Cymru in 2025 after 15 years working in the charitable sector – the last 10 as UK Director for a large children’s charity providing health, education and social care for children in England and Wales. Scott was a senior manager in a Welsh Local Authority for 10 years before that. Scott has been involved in many projects to improve and promote foster care over the years, more recently acting as script adviser for the BBC, helping them positively and accurately represent children in care. Scott is proud to be working back in Wales for the oldest independent fostering agency in Wales, supporting its transition to become a not-for-profit agency.
It is the foster carers and staff I work with. They are like an extended family. More importantly, seeing the difference, we make in the lives of children and young people who need a chance to reach their full potential
