Cardiff Team Welcomes Baxter the Therapy Dog

We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to the Calon Cymru Cardiff office over Easter — Baxter the dog. Baxter was accompanied by his owner, Dave O’Driscoll, who is also the founder of the Baxter Project, a not-for-profit agency based in Cardiff.
Baxter does amazing work supporting children in care. Alongside Dave, he works with children who need help building their confidence, forming trusting relationships, and feeling safe in new or challenging situations. His calm presence can help children feel more at ease, opening up opportunities for communication, emotional expression, and positive connection.
Baxter is just one of 16 dogs that the project has, located all over Wales. Each dog works with a specially trained therapist. They link up with children on a one-to-one basis to provide support and therapeutic counselling, using Baxter and his canine colleagues as an aid to form relationships and break down barriers to communication. Calon Cymru is keen to work with the project to benefit our children.
We had a wonderful time with Baxter and learning about the work that he does. The team fell in love with him and we hope to see him again soon!
