At only 17 Elena joined the team back when we were known as Pathway Care. Following a break to do her qualifications she came back to us and we welcomed her with open arms.
We spoke with Elena to ask her a few questions and get to know her a little better, here’s what she had to say.
I work in the Cardiff office
Worked for Pathway Care when I was 17 then left to do my qualifications, been back with Calon since 2022.
To have the opportunity to support the carers and the social workers who do the most important job! A small cog in a big wheel that makes such a difference to children’s lives.
I am part of the Admin Team, I work closely with Gareth Powell Training manager to co ordinate carer and staff training. I work in the Cardiff office taking general calls and queries and supporting my fellow admin team to ensure we have the best support system in place for Carers and Social Work staff to use as and when required.
Receiving feedback and hearing success stories from Carers who have used tools provided in training to support their children. It is rewarding to hear that training we have provided, has given Carers the resources to support their children in placement. Also, when the children visit us at the office!
I used to be a Latin and Ballroom Dancer competing all over the world. (A long time ago!)
I would recommend working with Calon because everyone is approachable and friendly. It has a family feel and there is always someone to help and talk to should you need it.
You would never be alone. There is always someone at the end of the phone at Calon who is experienced and skilled to support you should you need it. To have the chance to make a difference to a child’s life is immeasurable, so give it a go!

Sian joined the team in January as our new Deputy Operations Manager. Since then, she has made a wonderful impression on all staff and carers, regularly attending support groups and chairing our Parent and Child placement meetings. We got together with Sian to ask her a few questions and get to know her a little better, here’s what she had to say.
Heledd started her social work career with us when she first qualified back in 2003 and although her career has taken her elsewhere, we were thrilled to welcome her back in 2022 with a wealth of knowledge under her belt. We spoke with Heledd about her career and took some time to get to know her better. You might be surprised by her interesting fact; trust us you will be impressed.
